Jan. 25, 2021—An auto repair shop in northern Michigan donated over $2,000 to cover unpaid school lunch debt in Suttons Bay, Mich., the Associated Press reported.
In celebration of its five-year anniversary, Mr. Hoxie’s Garage wrote a check to the school district to cover the debt. The owners hope other local businesses will also make a five-year pledge to the school lunch program.
Suttons Bay superintendent Casey Petz told the AP that the gesture will “spread some joy” in the Leelanau County community.
