This is Tesla's effort to get around dealership restrictions and try to increase deliveries.
October 17, 2019—Tesla plans to open up new retail locations, going by the name of ‘Tesla Centers’ in order to get around dealership restrictions and try to increase deliveries, reports Electrek.
Last quarter, Tesla announced a record-breaking 97,000 deliveries around the world, although coming up short from the anticipated 100,000 expected. Tesla’s U.S. sales and delivery options slowed down as well due to regulations that prohibit direct sales by automakers in some states, including older laws that don’t allow car dealer operations on Sundays.
The plan for the centers is to have new, large locations operating sales, service, and delivery every day of the week. With this, Tesla believes focusing on the sale of energy will be a way to get around restrictions, as well as increase its delivery capacity and efficiency.
