Sept. 9, 2019—In a big move for Google, General Motors announced last week that its vehicles will come from the factory with the Android Automotive operative system.
The Verge reports that this includes apps like Google Assistant, Maps and more. Currently, Android Auto users need to link an Android smartphone to the car, but this new move will provide a self-contained interface.
The deal includes all GM brands outside of China.
Google inked a similar deal with Volvo previously and included its software in the Polestar 2 model.
