Feb. 14, 2014—The Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) announced Thursday that the industry-standard Product Attribute database (PAdb) has increased its definitions of the performance and physical attributes of products to account for 92 percent of all retail automotive sales and 98 percent of light-duty application sales.
The Product Attribute database is a library objective marketing attributes that customers find valuable when selecting between competing products. It currently lists 63,500 product-specific attributes addressing more than 7,600 distinct product types.
“The PAdb is the result of a huge industry-wide effort,” said Scott Luckett, CIO of AAIA. “For more than two-and-a-half years, 200 industry volunteers contributed their expertise and validated data contributions from across the aftermarket. Everything approved for publication in the PAdb has been vetted by multiple manufacturer and reseller experts in that category.”
Work will continue on the Product Attribute database indefinitely as new products are introduced. The PAdb is available exclusively for license from AAIA for an annual fee.
