ASE Survey Reveals Increased Trust in Service Providers

Nearly 1,500 vehicle owners were surveyed from around the country.

Oct. 5, 2022—Results from a survey conducted by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence have revealed an increase in trust toward automotive service professionals. 

According to a press release, nearly 1,500 vehicle owners were surveyed from around the country. In total, 70% of respondents noted an increased trust level in manufacturers, dealerships, independent repair shops and/or service technicians.

“Trust is something that is earned over time through a series of positive experiences with service providers. From the results of our survey, we are seeing that automotive service professionals across the country are doing an excellent job earning trust and keeping it with their customers,” said Tim Zilke, ASE president and CEO via the press release. 

The results from this survey have been released in conjunction with Car Care Month, which runs during October. The survey was commissioned by ASE and conducted online by independent research firm b4 Branding.

Additional takeaways from the survey included: 

  • 41% of respondents said ASE certifications were a determining factor when contemplating a service or repair facility
  • When they received information about ASE and its benefits, 77% of respondents said the knowledge they gained about ASE would influence their decision in choosing a facility for future needs 
  • 48% of respondents said that getting great value for the money was an important consideration
  • 46% of respondents said that friendly and knowledgeable staff members were an important consideration
  • 43% said that providers in a convenient location are an important consideration
