Aug. 12, 2015—Jaguar Land Rover announced on Tuesday that it has signed a letter of intent to build a new factory in Slovakia, passing over possible locations in the U.S. and Mexico, according to a report by USA Today.
The new factory in Nitra, Slovakia, is expected to open in 2018 and be able to build a range of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles with aluminum bodies.
"With its established premium automotive industry, Slovakia is an attractive potential development opportunity for us. The new factory will complement our existing facilities in the (United Kingdom), China, India and the one under construction in Brazil," said Ralf Speth, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, in a statement according to USA Today.
