NHTSA Holds Forum on Autonomous Cars

April 14, 2016—The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) held a meeting last week to seek public input on guidelines for the safe deployment and operation of autonomous vehicles. 

The NHTSA specifically requested comments on evaluation and testing of autonomous vehicles, detection and communication of operational boundaries, data recording capabilities, crash avoidance, identification of voluntary industry standards, as well as other topics. 

The NHTSA is accepting written comments until May 9. A second forum on autonomous vehicles will be held on April 27 at Stanford University
