Shop View: Pashby's Automotive

Eyes for Expansion
Jason Pashby, owner of Pashby’s Automotive, started out with what he describes as the “bare minimum” when he purchased his shop five years ago. Since then, he’s added four bays and purchased the acres behind the shop with plans to expand even more in the future.

Logo Logistics
Pashby’s father-in-law told him something once that’s always stuck with him about branding.
“When you’re driving down the highway, you only have a few seconds to figure out what something is,” Pashby says.
Keeping this in mind when he collaborated with one of his friends who creates signs, he designed his red, white and blue logo of a car with a wrench. The logo is easy to spot for customers who are able to easily identify what the business is. It’s been so effective, Pashby says there have been “copycat” logos popping up.

Go-To Shop
“There are million dollar shops that pay for a huge building but don’t have the equipment to do the job,” Pashby says.
Pashby invests in equipment and makes repairs a priority. For example, because of his Hunter alignment machine and A/C charging capabilities, other businesses (like dealerships and body shops) bring work to Pashby’s 3–5 times per week.

Organized Chaos
The shop parks its cars all the way down its driveway, and sometimes they even wrap around the building, creating what Pashby refers to as “organized chaos.” Although it may look disorganized (Pashby says his wife often complains about parking) there is a method to the madness.
The vehicles are organized into a line at the beginning of the day, so once one the vehicle is finished, the next one can be pulled in. The vehicles that are high priority, such as everyday drivers, will often be moved ahead of someone's secondary vehicle that isn’t needed in a hurry.
