Sept. 21, 2020—Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn., will add 70 electric vehicle charging stations over the next two years, thanks to a $6.7 million grant.
The U.S. Department of Energy awarded the sum to the Twin Cities Electric Vehicle Mobility Network to build charging stations and educate the public about electric cars. According to the Pioneer Press, some of the charging stations will include DC Fast Chargers that charge an EV in under 30 minutes.
Electrical infrastructure, which will be carried out by Xcel Energy, will cost around $4 million. The project is expected to begin in 2021.
