Oct. 27, 2020—Last week, General Motors announced that its Spring Hill, Tenn., assembly plant will be transitioning to an electric vehicle manufacturing site.
This marks the company's third manufacturing site dedicated entirely to electric vehicles. Spring Hill will be joining Factory ZERO in Detroit and Hamtramck, Mich., and Orion Assembly in Orion Township, Mich.
According to a press release, in addition to the Spring Hill location, the automaker is also investing in five different Michigan plants, totaling more than $2 billion, bringing GM's total investment into U.S. manufacturing since 2009 to $29 billion.
