“Our main objective for the New Product Development Team is to reverse engineer failures in engines. On this Ford 6.2L, we received multiple cores with broken valve springs,” Brad Boeglin, JASPER new product development group leader, says. “The JASPER® update is to install a 100 percent new, shorter design, industry-proven, valve spring with a shim. This spring will maintain OEM spring pressure, reduce spring flex, and will eliminate the root cause for the spring failure, making it more durable for increased engine life.”
“This engine has a JASPER designed piston,” Boeglin says. “This piston will maintain the original compression ratio after the heads and block are machined. The skirt has been widened to help stabilize the piston in the bore. The top ring land has been lowered to improve crown strength and, finally, the top ring land has been anodized to reduce the chance of top ring micro-welding.”
“The Ford 6.2L engine has gone through JASPER’s Zero-Defect Launch process,” Boeglin adds. “This process involves a team consisting of new product engineers, the Quality Department, and POD management assigned to the training of a product. Each unit is put through a very meticulous auditing process before it becomes available.”
The Ford 6.2L engine is covered by a nationwide, transferable parts and labor warranty of up to three years, or 100,000 miles. Full warranty disclosure is available on the JASPER website or upon request.
