Jan. 24, 2013—The total number of hybrid electric vehicle sales in the passenger car market will reach more than 2 million in 2013, according to the recently release_notesd 2013–2023 Global Hybrid Electric Vehicle Market report.

According to the report, hybrid vehicles and their electric drivetrains will become more commonplace as consumers seek to lower their fuel expenditures and manufacturers are compelled by regulation to decrease vehicle carbon dioxide emissions.

While the internal combustion engine will still be the dominant power source for vehicles, low emission gas engines, along with hybrid and electric vehicles, are expected to result in manufacturers taking a portfolio approach to vehicles.
