Nov. 29, 2021—A recent string of catalytic converter thefts have been reported in the Virginia county of Gloucester, WAVY reported.

Three separate repair shops were hit in a matter of weeks resulting in 12 converter thefts. The Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the matter.

No other information, including whether the crimes are linked, has been reported.

The incidents are a reflection of an ongoing trend throughout the country that is seeing repair shops becoming bigger targets of theft, especially as car counts increase and more vehicles are being left at shop’s overnight.
