Fire Destroys Michigan Repair Shop

Dec. 29, 2021

The owner believes the fire started as a technician was using a torch under a vehicle.

Dec. 29, 2021—No one was injured in a fire that destroyed Diesel Pro’s Performance, a Swartz Creek, Mich., auto repair shop Monday afternoon, MLive reported.

The owner of the shop, Matthew Randall, told MLive-The Flint Journal that he believes the fire started as a technician was using a torch under a vehicle. The building was a complete loss.

Randall said he believes a piece of ash fell onto a chemical on the floor, starting a flame.

There were seven people inside the building when the fire started. All of them made it out uninjured, Randall said.

Randall, who has owned the auto repair shop for four years, said the business has full coverage insurance and they plan to rebuild at the spot.
