Mar. 2, 2022—Toyota suspended 28 lines at 14 plants following a cyberattack to a major supplier on Tuesday, according to Nikkei Asia reported.
Kojima Industries, which supplies plastic parts to Toyota, announced the ransomware attack Tuesday morning confirming the existence of a virus suspected of breaching its file servers on Saturday night. The source of the attack is still unknown, but left Kojima unable to ship parts to Toyota plants, which stopped production for the automaker.
"We apologize to our relevant suppliers and customers for any inconvenience this may cause," Toyota said.
Toyota expects to resume production today.
