March 7, 2022—The Bend Bulletin reports on repair shops that are feeling the pinch between backordered supplies and keeping customers waiting.
One owner in La Grande, Ore., told the paper that an average repair takes a week, depending on which parts are most difficult to source. Electrical parts are on backorder for months, he said.
The silver lining is that business is picking up.
“We’ve always been really busy,” Joe Horst, owner of La Grande Auto Repair, told the Bulletin. “I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that buying new cars isn’t as easy as it has been, so people are fixing their old ones.”
