EVs: Easier to Maintain, Harder to Fix

April 6, 2022

As consumers browse online for EVs, finding trained technicians to help with repairs could be stifling.

April 6, 2022—Despite being easier to routinely maintain, EVs are expensive to buy and can be hard to repair.

EVs costs $949 annually to maintain an EV, one-third less than a gas-powered vehicle,  according to AAA , something consumers see as a plus. However, the downside happens in repairs when EV battery replacement can range from $5,000 to $20,000. It’s not something consumers think about when facing duress from the pump.

On top of that, finding a specialized mechanic can be challenging. Auto technicians are willing to learn, but training is lacking. One more factor consumers need to consider before buying, reports ABC 7 Detroit.
