Augusta Tech Plans New Automotive Learning Center

June 24, 2022

Augusta Tech will transform a former dealership space into a hands-on learning center for its automotive program students.

June 24, 2022—Augusta Tech in Augusta, Georgia, has announced its plans to turn a former dealership into a simulated automotive repair learning center.

According to The Augusta Chronicle, the former Johnson Motor Co. Cadillac dealership will become a crucial element of the school's automotive programming. Students will have the opportunity to learn hands-on repair strategies and procedures, including OEM training.

The program will also include a new feature that allows students to explore the business-oriented side of automotive repair for those interested in becoming finance or sales managers or even owners of vehicle dealerships.

The new campus will span 67,000 square feet and will house around 35 to 40 service bays.

“It’s one of the biggest things to happen to our program in its history, and I can’t wait to see what we’ll be able to do with community investments like this,” said Augusta Tech automotive instructor Taylor Bryant in the article.

The school accepted a $1 million donation for this project ceremonially from Jim Hudson Automotive Group out of Colombia, South Carolina. Three of the Group's dealerships are in Augusta.

The new campus is anticipated to be completed by the end of the year.
