Auto Industry Cyber Attack Risks Could Rise in 2023
Aug. 5, 2022—According to a Tripwire report, cyber-attacks could pose a significant risk to the auto industry in 2023.
As vehicles become more connected, cyber attackers have increased entry points for accessing the information technology of connected vehicles, particularly those that are autonomous.
Many automakers are ill-equipped to deal with the issue and lack an overall understanding of how to assess and manage security risks, the report states.
The industry can mitigate risk in four ways: securing manufacturing, securing connected cars, securing fleets, and improving automotive cybersecurity.
The report states “manufacturing processes, connected cars, and telematics systems must embrace better security practices. It could cost millions in damage and even endanger human lives if they don’t.”
