Dealership repairs fell 6% in July 2022, and the average cost of repairs fell by $4.

Aug. 26, 2022—Dealerships have reported that they performed fewer car repairs in July than they did in June.

According to data from Cox Automotive as reported on by Kelley Blue Book, dealership repairs fell 6% in July. Additionally, the average cost of repairs fell by $4.

Cox Automotive Chief Economist Jonathan Smoke said to Kelley Blue Book that there are multiple reasons for this drop. Those factors include technician shortages and supply chain issues, which are both felt throughout the entire industry.

New vehicle technology and innovation regarding today's cars also leads to higher repair costs, which the article said is believed to be a reason that drivers may choose to postpone repairs.
