Airtex Launches Fuel System Education Program
June 18, 2014—Airtex Fuel Delivery Systems announced last week it will introduce an education program aimed at teaching future technicians about fuel system diagnostics and fuel pump installations.
Fairfield, Ill.–based Airtex manufactures a range of in-tank modular, electric, and mechanical fuel pumps and assemblies, which cover more than 230M vehicles in U.S. operation.
The new pilot PUMP-ED training program will begin this fall at selected schools across the country. Airtex plans to send technicians into classrooms to show students the steps in fuel system diagnosis and tips to avoid issues during repairs.
Each selected school will also receive training materials and diagnostic and repair tools.
“Airtex knows that the future of automotive care is in the hands of these young students and we’re excited to partner with these schools and their instructors to help equip the next generation,” said Brandon Kight, Airtex and ASC Industries director of marketing and program development. “The PUMP•ED program provides a unique opportunity to pass on some of our 79 years worth of fuel systems knowledge with these future technicians.”
