FCA, Uber in Talks for Partnership

June 8, 2016

June 8, 2016—Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has started preliminary discussions with Uber Technologies for a potential partnership, according to a report from Automotive News.

The partnership would be similar to the automaker’s recent partnership with with Google to build and test autonomous vehicles.

An agreement could be reached by the end of the year. However, Uber is in talks with several other automakers and FCA has made initial contacts with other tech companies. It talked with  Amazon on autonomous cars and offered to build a car for Apple. No official agreement has been reached between the automaker and the ride-hailing service, and negotiations could fall apart.
