VISION Announces 2014 Award Winners, New Event in Mexico

March 10, 2014—At its annual award dinner in Overland Park, Kan., on Saturday, the VISION Hi-Tech Training & Expo recognized a handful of individuals and organizations for their work in advancing the industry forward. And VISION announced that it will be taking its own efforts to another level.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, VISION released preliminary details of its all-new “South of the Border” training event to take place Nov. 13–17 at the Secrets The Vine Resort in Cancun, Mexico. The event will feature management and technical training, featuring presenters such as Maylan Newton and John Thornton.

Few other details were offered as of Monday morning, but the organization said in its post that it will release more information soon.

At the awards dinner Saturday at the Overland Park Convention Center, VISION handed out eight separate honors, including “Facility of the Year,” which went to Menke’s Auto Service in Newburgh, Ind. The AUTEL maxiSYS pro was awarded “Best New Product” from the event’s new product showcase, and TMS Auto was chosen for “Best Website.”

Other honors announced Saturday included:

  • Technicians of Tomorrow: Tyler Bagby, Michael Earley, Brian Rea and Sheryl Sickels
  • VISION Technical Scholarship: Zack Boatwright
  • Humanitarian Award: Mindy Thomas
  • Best Dressed Shop: Menke's Auto
  • Green Star Facility: Advanced Auto Parts, Complete Automotive, STS Car Care
