March 10, 2015—Fiat Chrysler announced Monday that it is issuing a recall of over 703,000 minivans and SUVs, according to the Automotive News.
The recalls stem from a faulty ignition switch that can rotate out of proper and safe position. The recalls cover the 2008-2010 Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Journey.
This is the third time since 2011 where the company has issued a recall over similar problems with ignition switches, which can cause vehicles to stall, lose power and disable their airbags.
The ignition-switch issues have yet to cause any reported deaths, and just one crash which didn’t result in serious injury to those involved.
It is unknown if this defect is linked to a similar ignition-switch defect in GM vehicles, which has recalled over 2.5 million vehicles linked to 57 deaths, alongside a $35 million fine from the NHTSA.
