Many shops have warranties, or partner with parts companies for warranties, but it can be difficult to understand how to utilize them or how to pay for the work. Although the process may change depending on your shop’s technician pay plan, several considerations should be taken into account, no matter what. Jeremy Nordgren, owner of Nordgren Automotive in Medina, Minn., discusses his process for paying technicians for warranty work. Though Nordgren’s shop has only a 0.5 to 1 percent comeback rate, he’s devised a process for warranty work that reduces technician failure and high costs for the shop.
