May 2, 2016—Wells Vehicle Electronics announced Monday that it has unveiled its GoTech Mobile OBDII Diagnostic Tool, which is compatible with iOS and Android devices. It enables users to diagnose powertrain trouble codes and clear check engine lights, among other diagnostic functions, effectively turning bluetooth-enabled smartphones and tablets into OBDII scan tools.

“While other diagnostic tools require in-app purchases, costly updates and separate subscriptions, the GoTech app and all available diagnostic information is included with the purchase of this powerful new device,” said David Boer, vice president of sales and marketing, Wells Vehicle Electronics. “This tool is a game-changer for the DIY vehicle owner because it provides easy access to the information needed to more proactively monitor vehicle performance and identify a variety of problems.”

Able to store up to 10 vehicles, the device allows users to scan vehicles and monitor performance, define powertrain trouble codes, and access Wells’ library of more than 10 million diagnostic records. It can also be enabled to send an email with information from the time of the code.
