Ford To Hire Over 2,000 Salaried Workers
Jan. 11, 2013—Ford Motor Co. recently announced plans to hire 2,200 new salaried workers in 2013, the automaker’s largest growth in new salaried employees in over a decade, according to a company press release_notes.
The new hires will work in high-demand areas, such as product development, manufacturing and IT.
The announcement puts Ford more than halfway to fulfilling its promise to create 12,000 new jobs by 2015 as part of a 2011 contract with the United Auto Workers.
Officials said that the increase in hires is yet another sign of a burgeoning U.S. auto industry.
"As we expand our product lineup of fuel-efficient vehicles, we need more people in critical areas—such as in a range of engineering activities, vehicle production, computer software and other IT functions—to ensure we deliver the vehicles people want and value," Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of the Americas, said in a statement.
