Hearing Held on Connected Devices
Nov. 21, 2016—The U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce’s Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade, recently held a joint hearing, “Understanding the Role of Connected Devices in Recent Cyber Attacks.”
The hearing addressed opportunities and threats posed by connected devices.
Democrats and Republicans agreed that the security of connected devices must remain a priority. The majority of members and witnesses agreed that there was a need for security regulation. However, Republican members of the subcommittees stopped short of endorsing a new, dedicated agency.
