Chevy Nabs Car, Truck of the Year at Detroit Auto Show

Jan. 13, 2014

Jan. 13, 2014—The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was named the Car of the Year on Monday at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. And with the Chevy Silverado won the Truck of the Year award, Chevy finished with a clean sweep of the top awards.

Chevy’s Corvette and Silverado were both redesigned last year. The win marks the second consecutive win for General Motors in the car category, with the Cadillac ATS winning last year.

Winners are chosen by 49 automotive journalists who all have driving time with the contenders.

Of the finalists, the Corvette beat out the Cadillac CTS and Mazda3. The list of vehicles considered included new or significantly redesigned cars introduced in the past year.
