April 2, 2018—Tesla is recalling 123,000 Model S electric cars to replace a power steering bolt defect, according to a report from the USA Today.
The company issued the voluntary recall to fix Model S vehicles made before April 2016 after discovering “excessive corrosion” in the affective part, according to a letter issued to customers.
Tesla said it had observed the defect “only in very cold climates” where vehicles contend with road salt.
The company's stock had fallen 23 percent from March 12 through the close of trading Thursday.
