Automotive Scholarships Available for Alabama Students

Both the Alabama Community College System and Alabama Automotive Manufacturers Association have partnered together to offer opportunities to students interested in pursuing an associate degree or technical certificate in the automotive industry. 

Feb. 25, 2019—Automotive industry scholarships are accessible for students attending Bevill State Community College in Jasper, Ala. The Daily Mountain Eagle reports that both the Alabama Community College System and Alabama Automotive Manufacturers Association have partnered together to offer opportunities to students interested in pursuing an associate degree or technical certificate in the automotive industry. 

The Daily Mountain Eagle reports that each scholarship is worth $3,600 and will be available for students to use over a span of two semesters at a total of 23 community colleges in Alabama.

"As Alabama's auto industry continues to grow, skilled workers are vital to our industry's continued success," AAMA president Ron Davis said in a press release, the Daily Mountain Eagle reports. 

A total of $180,000 will be awarded between 40 college students and 10 high schoolers, the Daily Mountain Eagle reports. 

ACCS vice chancellor of workforce and economic development Jeff Lynn said ACCS is committed to continue providing opportunities for Alabamians to get training to meet growing industry needs in the state.

"The best advice we gather for how to educate an excellent workforce for Alabama's employers and entrepreneurs is from direct input on what industries need," ACCS vice chancellor of workforce and economic development Jeff Lynn said in a press release, the Daily Mountain Eagle reports. "Partnerships we're creating to build programs that build futures for all Alabama residents require our investment in career technical education, and we're committed to doing so locally, regionally and statewide."
