March 26, 2019—Michigan is still the face of the automotive industry, research reveals. The Detroit Free Press reports that the Detroit Regional Chamber's MICHauto group is meeting to go over the 2019 Michigan automobility report.

Some highlights from the report reveals that from 2016-2018, three metro Detroit counties had some of the highest growth in the nation regarding new manufacturing jobs. Additionally, 17 percent of U.S. and 11 percent of North American vehicle production in 2018 took place in Michigan.

The Detroit Free Press reveals that Michigan is the top state for U.S. transportation equipment exports, and is the top location for operational U.S. Department of Transportation-funded and connected vehicle deployments with 11 projects.

A total of $29 billion has been invested in Michigan since 2009, which is three times more than any other state.
