May 7, 2019—A flatbed truck driver visiting Whip It Tire Service in Branford, Conn., was killed after a forklift on his truck fell on top of him, according to WTNH.

The driver asked if he could get air for one of his tires, but instead of driving to the air compressor, he went to the forklift on the back of the flatbed, according to an employee at Whip it Tire Service.

Employees at the tire store tried to get the forklift off of the man, but were unable to do so, according to the report.

"When we arrived here, we found an approximately 58-year-old gentleman underneath the forklift unconscious," said Assistant Branford Fire Chief Shaun Heffernan.

The man, whose name is not being released, was taken to the hospital and died after.
