July 3, 2019—Joe and Dave Thamm of Chicago say goodbye to Thamm’s Auto Repair after five decades of service, reports the Beverly Review.

The brothers operated the auto repair shop, which was first run by their father, Joe Sr. since January 1961. The business officially closed its doors on June 27.

Joe and Dave performed an array of services, but due in part to the physical activities the job entails, they decided to close the shop after working in the shop since they were children.

Joe Thamm Sr. opened the shop as a Sinclair gas station. The business eventually provided a long list of auto repairs, including tires, engines, brakes, belts, and windows.

The brothers said the property is for sale, and both plan to take time off to relax and look for employment elsewhere.
