The $250 per week would be the strike wage if United Auto Workers (UAW) members continue their strikes.

August 19, 2019—UAW leaders are working on contract negotiations with Ford, General Motors and Fiat Chrysler that will directly impact 148,661 hourly workers, potentially having to work on $250 per week, reports the Detroit Free Press.

No decisions have been made yet and is expected around Labor Day, less than two weeks before expiration of the UAW’s contracts the automotive companies.

The $250 per week would be the strike wage if UAW members continue their strikes. Younger union members say they help the automotive companies make money and they have been disrespected by GM as it continues to show strong profits. The union maintains that GM violated the contract by closing or idling factories during the life of the current contract.
