ASA-Texas Partners with Advance, TxDOT on Drive Clean Poster Contest

    Sept. 7, 2018
Three students from K-12 throughout Texas could win $500 each by entering a contest to design a poster that encourages Texas drivers to “do your part” in helping keep emissions out of the beautiful Texas skies.

September 7, 2018—Three students from K-12 throughout Texas could win $500 each by entering a contest to design a poster that encourages Texas drivers to “do your part” in helping keep emissions out of the beautiful Texas skies.

Sponsored in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation Drive Clean Texas: Live & Breathe It campaign, the Automotive Service Association (ASA) and Advance Auto Parts, the contest shows how Texans “live and breathe” Texas air.

The artwork should depict one of the following tips that reduce emissions into the air:

    • Maintain your vehicle
    • Properly inflate your tires
    • Never top off your tank
    • Avoid idling at drive-thrus
    • Carpool
    • Combine errands
    • Change oil regularly
    • Fill up your tanks in the later afternoon or evening
    • Tighten your gas cap all the way

Entry forms and a copy of the flier explaining the contest are available at ASAshop.org/fixmycar. Entries can be dropped off at any ASA-Texas member-shop. To find a shop closest to you, visit ASAShop.org/FixMyCar. If there isn’t an ASA shop in your area, you can mail your entry to the Automotive Service Association, ATTN: Poster Contest, 8209 Mid Cities Blvd., North Richland Hills, TX 76182.

“We are extremely excited about this contest because it allows young people to express their love of the Lone Star State and, at the same time, learn the importance of keeping our skies beautiful through practical, clean air tips,” said Tony Molla, vice president of ASA.

“As a long-time partner with ASA, Advance Auto Parts is proud to help promote clean air in Texas by raising awareness in this unique way,” said Mark Mills, director of strategic accounts with Advance. “Not only does this engage our youth today to spread the message, we believe it will shape responsible drivers for years to come. This is a great way to build relationships between Texas customers and the ASA service facilities while serving our communities.”

Five semifinalists and one winner will be named in each of three age categories: K-5, 6-8, 9-12. Winners will be notified by Oct. 8. Each winner will receive a $500 cash prize, a trophy and a framed copy of their winning poster. The three winning posters will be displayed in Advance stores throughout Texas during the month of January 2019.

Poster contest entries will be accepted from Aug. 15-Sept. 14, 2018. Final entries must be received in person or postmarked by 5 p.m. Sept. 14, 2018.
