Jan. 9, 2018—As the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) heats up in Las Vegas this week, Hyundai has used the gathering to express its desire to be the global leader in autonomous driving and the connected car.
In an interview with CarAdvice, Hyundai’s executive vice president of the auto intelligence division, Seung Ho Hwang, said the challenge facing Hyundai is to become a leader in evolving vehicle technology while still maintaining a similar pricing structure.
“We have a very ambitious vision for the connected car,” Hwang told CarAdvice. “In new technologies Hyundai Motor Company is aggressive in adopting new technology and deploying it, but ... the price point has to be within a reasonable price. That is the most critical.”
Hyundai vehicles are expected to eventually feature over-the-air updates, and remote diagnoses, among other evolving forms of technology. The majority of these new vehicle features are likely to debut in Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis to begin with, before making their way to Kia and Hyundai.
