GM Recalls Select Trucks Over Potential Fuel Leaks

The automaker is recalling Silverados and Sierra 3500 trucks that were made from 2011 to 2015 to fix a fuel tank problem that increases the risk of a fire.
Nov. 20, 2017—General Motors is recalling approximately 49,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 3500 trucks with two fuel tanks, according to a USA Today report.
The automaker is recalling Silverados and Sierra 3500 trucks that were made from 2011 to 2015 to fix a fuel tank problem that increases the risk of a fire.
Dealers and shops will replace the rear tank fuel pump, update software and inspect the front tank. Owners will be notified starting Dec. 18 with parts available for repairs in February.
According to the automaker, there have been no reports of fires or injuries.
The issue stems from the front fuel tank's low fuel sensor sticking and causing the tank to overfill, this consequently would make the front tank expand, touch the drive shaft and possibly cause a hole and a fuel leak.
