Nov. 20, 2017—Hyundai will bring its Highway Driving Assist System to the U.S. with its Genesis G90 luxury sedan, according to a CNET report.
The system will debut as part of a mid-cycle refresh for the Genesis G90 luxury sedan. After the system debuts on the G90, the Highway Driving Assist System will appear on the next-generation Sonata.
The system was first introduced in South Korea in 2015. In Korea, the system is currently available on three Genesis models (G90, G80, G70) and three Hyundai models (Azera, Sonata, Santa Fe).
As Dave Hobbs noted in his interview with Ratchet+Wrench, training will be required to properly repair vehicles with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). He says that shop if technicians and service advisors don't obtain training on this advancing vehicle technology, shops are not just going to lose customers to dealerships and progressive shops—they’re going to put drivers in danger.
The automaker plans to develop an updated version of the system and it's expected to debut in 2020.
