Nov. 9, 2017—NHTSA's met on Nov. 6 to address concerns about provisions of the guidance, specifically the safety self-assessment asked of automakers.

Previously, the U.S. Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released new federal guidance for Automated Driving Systems (ADS): A Vision for Safety 2.0. This document updates the original 2016 guidance by incorporating public and congressional feedback.

Following the opening remarks by acting administrator Heidi King, a panel of NHTSA’s staff heard comments from various stakeholder groups.
