June 20, 2017—As part of the annual Washington, D.C., visit, the Automotive Service Association's (ASA) mechanical leadership met with key staff and industry leaders to discuss cybersecurity and privacy issues on Wednesday.
Attendees met with representatives from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the U.S. House Committee on Small Business, as well as with other committees, General Motors, Global Automakers and the Future of Privacy Forum to address vehicle security issues. The House Small Business Committee has been active with small business cybersecurity concerns and is working closely with the House Energy and Commerce Committee on this issue.
Frank Leutz, a member of ASA’s Mechanical Operations Committee, commented on the value of these meetings, “These conversations are so important because they will become the foundation for future regulatory and legislative action. We are here to ensure our industry has a seat at the table.”
