EPA Denies Extension on Fuel Economy Standards

Dec. 23, 2016—On Thursday, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) told an automaker lobbyist group, the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, that it will not extend the deadline for a review of strict fuel economy standards through the 2025 model year, according to a report by Automotive News.

This announcement indicates that the EPA will move forward to make the rules final before the Obama administration leaves office, according to the report.
