GM Invest $1 Billion for Technical Center Expansion

May 15, 2015

May 15, 2015—General Motors recently announced that it will invest $1 billion to expand and renovate its technical center in Warren, Mich.

The plans include new design studios and a multi-story IT building. The project will also include renovations to the existing research and design facilities, construction for more testing areas and extensive office upgrades. The project is expected to generate 2,600 new jobs.

"The need to attract high quality employees is the real need," said Mark Reuss, GM product chief, in a statement. "We're not here to be competitive, we're here to win. So when we do this in Warren, we’re not trying to compete, we’re trying to win."

Work is currently underway and set to wrap up in 2018.
