ASA-Midwest to Host Misfire Diagnostics Training

Oct. 30, 2013

Oct. 30, 2013—The Automotive Service Association of the Midwest (ASA-Midwest) will host an upcoming event on technical training for advanced misfire diagnostics on Nov. 19 from 6:30–8:30 p.m. in Columbia, Mo.

The ASA-Midwest said in a press release_notes Tuesday that the presentation will cover a variety of testing methods and tactics, including using “pulse” waveform analysis, as well as how to build a “pulse” probe.

Several real-world oscilloscope waveform captures will be presented and tested using an array of different scope accessories to help an automotive diagnostics technician pinpoint the cause of an engine misfire. Attendees will learn how to verify if the powertrain control module's OBD II system is actually identifying the correct cylinder during misfire analysis.

The meeting, presented by Jeff Bly and sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts and NAPA Autotech Training, includes dinner and costs $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
