Tesla Model S Named Consumer Reports Top Pick

Feb. 28, 2014

February 28, 2014—The Consumer Reports Annual Auto Issue ranked Tesla’s Model S as the top overall pick, the magazine announced earlier this week.

Based on survey results from 1.1 million subscribers, the ratings factor in quality, reliability and consumer satisfaction.

Consumer Reports said that it awarded Tesla the top spot for its commitment to innovation, and what the magazine calls “a glimpse into a future where cars and computers coexist in A seamless harmony.”

The Model S scored a rating of 99 out of 100, the best score a model has ever received from Consumer Reports.

Meanwhile, Ford slipped to its lowest rating since 2006, scoring only 50 out of 100 and ranking as the second-worst brand. The only OEM to perform lower was Jeep.

Consumer Reports said that the biggest complaint from Ford owners was the reliability of their Ford Sync and MyFord Touch in-car connectivity systems.
