Snap-on Releases Improved Pass Thru Pro III

Sept. 3, 2015

Sept. 3, 2015—Snap-on has enhanced its new Snap-on Pass Thru Pro III (EETA113C) to make the J2534 vehicle reprogramming process easier, the company said on Thursday. Technicians will now experience improved ease of use with automatic access to an updated reprogramming toolbox, now supporting Windows 8.

The Pass Thru Pro III includes new protocols for fault tolerant CAN, new CAN lines and access to additional late-model vehicle networks. The device also allows automatic firmware updates via USB as a vehicle connection is no longer required for firmware updates.

Through the new Pass Thru Pro III, technicians can update software/firmware in the vehicle’s electronic control unit with software directly from the OEMs, fixing software-controlled drivability and emission issues. The new device can also program emission-related ECUs on any J2534-compliant vehicle 2004-newer and other J2534 compliant controllers.
