Nov. 2, 2015–Wells Vehicle Electronics revealed its new innovate automotive diagnostic solution today that transforms consumers’ Bluetooth-enabled smartphones and tablets into an OBDII scan tool. The GoTech Mobile OBDII Diagnostic Tool enables users to diagnose powertrain trouble codes, clear check engine lights and perform a variety of other diagnostic functions. The new tool is compatible with iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
Consumers can use their mobile devices to easily scan vehicles and monitor performance, define powertrain trouble codes, access Wells’ proprietary library of over 10 million diagnostic records compiled by Master ASE-certified technicians, and clear check engine lights. The device can store up to 10 vehicles.
“While other diagnostic tools require in-app purchases, costly updates and separate subscriptions, the GoTech app and all available diagnostic information is included with the purchase of this powerful new device,” said David Boer, vice president of sales and marketing, Wells Vehicle Electronics. “This tool is a game-changer for the DIY vehicle owner because it provides easy access to the information needed to more proactively monitor vehicle performance and identify a variety of problems.”
The GoTech device has a “Freeze Frame” option, which allows vehicle performance information at the time the code set to be emailed to yourself, a friend or automotive repair shop. Trouble code information and troubleshooting/repair tips can also be emailed. Once the diagnosis and repairs have been completed, the “Clear Codes” function gives consumers the ability to clear a vehicle’s check engine light. The tool works with all OBDII vehicles (model years 1996 and newer).
