Nov. 17, 2014—General Motors has extended its deadline to be compensated for faulty ignition-switches in its vehicles to Jan. 31, 2015, according to a report by Reuters.
"Our goal with the program has been to reach every eligible person impacted," General Motors said in a release.
The program, GM Ignition Compensation Claims Resolution Facility, started accepting claims Aug. 1 and had received 2,105 claims for deaths and serious injuries linked to the switch, as of Nov. 14. There are an estimated four and a half million current and previous owners eligible for compensation, according to a GM release.
