ASA Webinar Discusses DOL Overtime Rule Impact

June 22, 2016

June 22, 2016—Last week, the Automotive Service Association (ASA) held a webinar to discuss the implications of the U.S. Department of Labor’s recent final rule on overtime pay

Brian Farrington, shareholder and section head of Cowles & Thompson Employment Law Practice Group in Dallas, discussed the new regulation and fielded questions during the webinar. Darrell Amberson, president of operations at LaMettry’s Collision in Minneapolis, discussed the effect of the new regulation on collision repair shops, while Ed Cushman, president of C&H Foreign Auto Repair in Spokane, Wash., discussed the regulation’s effect on mechanical repair shops.

A question and answer session followed the discussion. Primary concerns included variations in the rule’s implementation from state to state, the effects of commissions on the salary test and the necessity of logging hours.

Here is the full recording of the webinar.
