June 3, 2015—On May 20, Bill Gurney was named as the 2015-2016 New Hampshire Automobile Dealers Association (NHADA) board chair. Gurney takes over the position from Christopher Weiss.
Appointing Gurney marks the first time that someone other than an auto dealer CEO has led the board. Gurney has a background in auto service, not sales.
“Bill has been a valued member of our association for many years, and his wisdom and influence have combined to help us grow over time,” explains Pete McNamara, president and CEO of NHADA. “We are fortunate that he is willing to lend his wisdom to a more prominent role in our association.”
“It’s an honorable industry and a privilege to serve the public in the safety and transportation business,” says Gurney. “I look forward to working to help make a meaningful and positive difference in the state’s automotive industry.”
Gurney started his first business venture, opening New England Mobile Muffler, when he was 18-years-old. In 1985, he and his wife Charlotte, co-founded Gurney’s Automotive Repair Inc. He earned his ASE Master Technician Certification with L1 certification and was one of the first repair facilities in the state of N.H. to be licensed for emissions testing.
Gurney has been voted the Best of the Best of Greater Nashua for the past 12 years and Souhegan Region for Outstanding Automotive Service for the past three. He has served as an advisory council member to the Master Technician Service Specialist Program for AC Delco.
Since 2006, Gurney has served as a trustee on the Workman Compensation Board for NHADA.
